Heh.

I was too tired but I did not see that ending coming.

Stayed up way too late last night and watched SNL. That was on right before I turned out the light and went to sleep....

Hope I did not dream about that.

It was funny and my last thought was "that was an Andy Samberg written skit."

His sense of humor is pretty particular to him.

The highlight of my 14-year-old kid's week is SNL. If I try to tell him to go to bed on Saturday nights he responds with "but SNL is on tonight!!"

I think that Samberg writes for that age group.

Hilarious.

I was really pulling for "On A Boat" to win Best Rap Collaboration at the Grammys last night. But it was not to be.

"Take a good hard look at the mother fucking boat!"

The Masked Vigilante said...

Was it really nominated??

I LOVE that song.

snark said...

Yes. It REALLY WAS nominated. I would have loved it if it won.

gone said...

It won't play. Who is this, and what's it about? And there was another award show last night? Sheesh. I'm so out of it. I didn't even realize SNL is being watched by people again. It's sooo '70s, innit?

The Masked Vigilante said...

It's an Andy Samberg SNL bit, featuring the dude from Mad Men.

The Grammy Awards were on last night. Ignored it. Though had I known "On A Boat" was nominated for something, I might've watched.

gone said...

I guess Andy Samberg is a famous guy? I must be getting old, not recognizing the new hipsters. Time for me to sign up for Logan's Run, eh?

The Masked Vigilante said...

You know Andy, Twink!

gone said...

Heh. Clearly, I'm not aware of all internet traditions...or something. Never seen that pic before. Really, the last time I even heard that SNL was still kicking was when Tina Fey did Palin. I saw the Jizz in my Pants, too, and saw a bit of the boat thing, which I didn't really get.

But hey! Lost is tomorrow. That's more important than anything else, really.

snark said...

...and saw a bit of the boat thing, which I didn't really get.

They were on a boat! A mother fuckin' boat!

gone said...

Well, that much was obvious. Why it's fabulous rap, when even in the best of times rap sucks, I don't know.

I did like Jizz in my Pants, though. That was funny, and soooo familiar, too. Heehee...

The Masked Vigilante said...

Shopgirl doesn't get it either. People she works with will talk about it, and she'll come home and ask, "Why is the boat thing funny?"

I tell her it's a parody of a typical rap video. They're on a boat and, you know, they think it makes them really cool.

AWWWWW SHIT!! GET YOUR TOWELS READY CUZ IT'S ABOUT TO GO DOWN!!

I suppose once you have to explain the joke, it's never gonna be funny. But it cracks my shit up and I have the song on my iPod.

snark said...

But it cracks my shit up...

I just about jizzed my pants first time I heard it.

Aww shit, get your towels ready it's about to go down (shorty, yeah)
Everybody in the place hit the fucking deck (shorty, yeah)
But stay on your motherfucking toes
We running this, let's go

I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
Everybody look at me 'cause I'm sailing on a boat (sailing on a boat)
I'm on a boat (I'm on a boat)
I'm on a boat
Take a good hard look at the motherfucking boat (boat, yeah)

I'm on a boat motherfucker take a look at me
Straight flowing on a boat on the deep blue sea
Busting five knots, wind whipping out my coat
You can't stop me motherfucker cause I'm on a boat

Take a picture, trick (trick)
I'm on a boat, bitch (bitch)
We drinking Santana champ,
Cause it's so crisp (crisp)
I got my swim trunks
And my flippie-floppies
I'm flipping burgers, you at Kinko's
Straight flipping copies

I'm riding on a dolphin, doing flips and shit
The dolphin's splashing, getting everybody all wet
But this ain't Seaworld, this is real as it gets
I'm on a boat, motherfucker, don't you ever forget

I'm on a boat and
It's going fast and
I got a nautical themed
Pashmina afghan
I'm the king of the world
On a boat like Leo
If you're on the shore,
Then you're sure not me-oh

Get the fuck up, this boat is REAL!

Fuck land, I'm on a boat, motherfucker (motherfucker)
Fuck trees, I climb buoys, motherfucker (motherfucker)
I'm on the deck with my boys, motherfucker (yeah)
This boat engine make noise, motherfucker

Hey ma, if you could see me now (see me now)
Arms spread wide on the starboard bow (starboard bow)
Gonna fly this boat to the moon somehow (moon somehow)
Like Kevin Garnett, anything is possible

Yeah, never thought I'd be on a boat
It's a big blue watery road (yeah)
Poseidon
Look at me, oh (all hands on deck)

Never thought I'd see the day
When a big boat coming my way
Believe me when I say
I fucked a mermaid

I'm on a boat
I'm on a boat
Everybody look at me 'cause I'm sailing on a boat (woaah)
I'm on a boat
I'm on a boat
Take a good hard look at the mothafuckin' boat (sha-sha-shorty, shorty, yeah)

gone said...

Mmmkay. I didn't listen to more than one line of Palin's SNL rap, either.

Lookit me, I'm on a mutha fookin' Blog, man!
Yup, on a blog, baby. (shoop a doop a doop)

snark said...

But the great thing about it is it's totally lampooning rap AND being really good rap at the same time.

Classic.

The Masked Vigilante said...

Exactly! it's a great song w/ tons of energy. The Beastie Boys have never been that good.

And while "Jizz" and "Boat" are the best, I like this one too, as well as:

This one for the sports fans

And the classic, uncensored Natalie Portman rap.

SNL hasn't been this good in years.

You guys. I luvs ya.

Hey, MV, SoS. Lost goddammit! Is no one excited?

The Masked Vigilante said...

I am gonna watch it, for sure, but for some reason I'm not particularly excited about it.

I think it has something to do with the giant foot, Locke really being dead (sort of), the one immortal throwing the other immortal into the fire, and Julia setting off the bomb back in the 70's which means everybody's either dead or has ceased to exist.

What a headache.

Still, the moment it starts I'll be all wrapped up in it.

Damn straight Twinky, my son and I can't wait.

In other news, my sons computer crashed. I gave him my old one, I've been working from the wife's laptop... that got old real quick so I went out and bought myself a Mac. I feel free from the PC world.

I saw that SNL, one of the best in a long time... seem like they are getting their groove back.

The Masked Vigilante said...

I went out and bought myself a Mac.

Wise move, sir. I have a PC for my desktop computer, but the iBook for my laptop, since all I really do on that is send email, blog, surf, and synch my iPod.

And it never locks up, never crashes, nothing. Over the weekend I opened up my in-laws' HP laptop and immediately got the Blue Screen of Death.

I was like, "Ah, Windows. Never change."

gone said...

I dunno, I can never find anything on a mac, even though it's all on the desktop. Takes getting used to, I guess. I gotta use PCs for tech support, and the biggest problem I have is stupid people downloading blingies and shit without thinking of what they're going to mess up.

Seven of Six said...

Ah Twinky... this Mac is so smooth. The Mac does take getting used to and I've just started. I also have Windows 7 loaded when I want to go that direction. The best of both worlds, if you can call it that... I find myself going to the Mac side more and more everyday. Only thing is on start up I have to decide which I'm going to use, Mac or Windows 7... If I want to switch I have to shut down the computer all the way. So far, the Windows side still has a minor glitch, the cursor sometimes sticks when it goes into hibernation.
I have Mozilla and Safari loaded as my web browsers. I like Mozilla on Windows, but I like Safari on the Mac side.
ITunes is awesome... how could I have been so "Lost" before?
The mouse is useless for gaming however... some fancy, smanchy, touchy, feely piece.

Overall... sweet!!

The Masked Vigilante said...

Yeah, that's why I still have the PC in my office at home. Mac doesn't have anything to compare to Word or Excel or Outlook.

Hell, even with web design I prefer Microsoft FrontPage to anything the Mac has. And Macs are supposed to be so great at stuff like that.

Anybody I know who has an iMac as their main, desktop home computer has a version of Windows that runs on the Mac.

But it's a good, lightweight laptop for the basic stuff you use a laptop for. And like I said, it never crashes or locks up or gets effed up w/ a virus.

But I wouldn't wanna try to do my job with it.

Seven of Six said...

But I wouldn't wanna try to do my job with it.

We all need that occasional down time. ;)

The Masked Vigilante said...

We all need that occasional down time. ;)

Oh, totally. That's why I love my iBook so much. You'd think after sitting at a computer all day, it'd be the last thing I wanna do when I go home. But the iBook is different. Different look, different feel, nothing like work.

Seven of Six said...

Question MV: Can you load Office on a Mac... will it take it?

Seven of Six said...

Really, the part that is best for me is the lack of a tower... amazing they put such quality in a small package.

The Masked Vigilante said...

I think as long as you're running Windows 7, yeah. But I wouldn't try to do it on the Mac operating system.

Only thing is on start up I have to decide which I'm going to use, Mac or Windows 7...

So you'd have access to Office w/ Windows 7, but not if you choose Mac at start up.

gone said...

I've found that I'm using the computer less and less at home, so I'm not in that much of a hurry to get a new one, even though the home one is falling apart. I don't do any personal biz online, so I'm not hurting that way. I just read a thing on Boing Boing about how 80% of ATM fraud is from "skimmers" who put a tiny data collection device on ATMs that get your card no. and pin. Not gonna use those again.

Another story I found at Boing Boing is this one about a chick with no vagina getting preggers by a blow job and stab wound. Pretty nifty, eh?

Seven of Six said...

So you'd have access to Office w/ Windows 7...

I guess your right... more compatible. Wish Microsoft made things easier... but hey, they did create a bunch of jobs!

Oscar Nominations 2010!

The science-fiction sensation "Avatar" and the Iraq war thriller "The Hurt Locker" lead the Academy Awards with nine nominations each, including best picture and director for former spouses James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow.

For the first time since 1943 the Oscars feature 10 best-picture contenders instead of the usual five.

Also nominated for best-picture Tuesday: "District 9"; the animated comedy "Up"; the World War II saga "Inglourious Basterds"; the football drama "The Blind Side"; the recession tale "Up in The Air," the 1960s drama "A Serious Man," and the teen tales "An Education" and "Precious: Based on the Novel `Push' By Sapphire."

gone said...

Avatar was fun, but no where near good enuff for Oscar. Of course, neither was Titanic so there ya go.

Inglourious Basterds was fabulous, I thought, and I want to see Precious but have to be in a strong frame of mind for it, I hear. Entertainment Weekly gave Blind Side a C- or something, it sounded like a dumb movie to me. Not really into the "inspirational" shit, myself.

Seven of Six said...

Since I follow football, The Blind Side is a true story about Offensive Tackle, Michael Oher, currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens. It's about his tough childhood. His mother was a crack addict during his pregnancy... father in prison then killed his senior in high school. He had learning disabilities and never had guidance. Foster homes, homeless, drifting from family to family, until a white family involved in football took him in. They got him a tutor, raised his GPA, he went to college at Ole Miss. I've heard nothing but good things from my friends about it. BTW, in football the blindside is the side the quarterback is not protected on so the offensive tackle is left alone to protect him.
I'm waiting for it on DVD.

gone said...

Oh, I'm sure the original story is inspiring, but the mushy, tv-movie version sounds like it should be on Lifetime rather than the Oscars. At least that's what I heard. I think it was pandagon that talked about the White Savior phenom from this movie and Avatar. I dunno, it's hard enuff to watch movies anymore without all the silly "messages" you're supposed to absorb. I just wanna be entertained, and the whiny pumas just aren't doin' it for me any more. I am going to a friend's for the Superbowl, even though, in my experience, I've been blotto before kickoff on every SB in the past and never saw the end of the game.

Seven of Six said...

Yeah, I don't care what type of story the entertainment is, just so long as it entertains... that's why I'm waiting for DVD.

I just hope Manning and the Colts don't blow out the Saints... I want the Saints to win (underdog), plus, it would be so good for the City of New Orleans.
I used to get pretty splashed before the game but have been pretty good lately, the wife is finally off for a weekend, yay!

Has anybody heard of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program for High School students? I'm trying to get Tristan in and he really wants in, which is somewhat surprising. Supposedly he takes this program and it automatically qualifies him for his sophomore year in college, just a step up.

gone said...

Man, that would be so cool for Tristan! I've never heard of IB, but any program that speeds up college credits is a bonus.

The Masked Vigilante said...

Okay, not much chance I'm gonna stay up late enough to watch all of Lost, so I'll steer clear of this discussion until I'm caught up.

Didn't realize it was gonna be 2 hours. Whoa.

gone said...

Heck yeah! I may have to watch tomorrow, though, too. I can't stay up later than 9 on a good night!

Maybe I'll pick up Zombieland on my way home from work...

Seven of Six said...

Twinky, Check out the outer space asteroid collision caught by Hubble, really cool!

Let me know when you guys have seen the full "Lost" episode... don't want to spoil it.

The Masked Vigilante said...

Wow. That's actually kinda scary looking.

I'm gonna unsubscribe from this thread, so feel free to discuss Lost if you've seen it. I've been fighting a cold and went to bed at 7 last night.

Can't wait to see it tonight!

gone said...

I haven't seen it yet, either! I'll put up a discussion post this evening once we all have seen it. Still, SoS? Was it good?? It's going to be a long day waiting.

Sorry you're feeling bad, MV. Is it still crazy cold there? We had the warmest January in history here.

gone said...

Cool pic, SoS. Definitely some kind of collision, huh? Loves me some Hubble. I'm kinda glad Obama's not gonna pursue Bush's Big Mars Adventure - as much as it'd be cool, it's way too expensive for the US at this point.

Anjha said...

I fell asleep at about 10:20 and missed the last 40 minutes. Lost was all my kid could talk about yesterday...first thing when he walked downstairs yesterday morning way "Lost is on tonight!"

Then I missed it and we do not have TIVO. Anyone who can provide a link to it, please let me know. Historically ABC does not put it online until long past its debut.

SoS - nice about Tristan's interest. I find that the hardest thing is when I forget to jump on something that Kiddo is interested in and then he loses interest before I get the information/applications/money together to implement it. Will you email me the info on that program?

Kiddo was telling me the other day that he wants to do the "running start" program. This is where the kids can go to a community college or a trade school while in High School and get both HS credit and college credit. I thought that was awesome.

"I'm on a Boat" is one of the funniest things ever. (Maybe because of the personal story, more so than the song itself.)

I first saw it when it premiered on SNL. None of us listen to rap in this house so we are totally not hip to it. Kiddo and I walked down to 7-11 and walked by a guy at the bus stop. Kiddo said to me "I don't know what that guy was listening to, some rap crap, and the lyrics were something like 'on a boat.' How dumb is that!?"

So then I started laughing and I said to him "haven't you seen that? It was on SNL. It is a real song. It is hilarious!"

Then when we got home we looked up the video on YouTube and Kiddo fell on the floor laughing. So now we have that personal, inside joke about that song.

I have had a shit week. Massive pain flair and back spasm and docs cannot do anything but give me some Lidocaine shots that only last half a day or so. I have been wearing 4 Lidocaine patches on my back almost non-stop for a week and maxed out on all of my pain meds and still feel like I need to go to the ER most nights. It is BS.

It is bad timing because I had all of my quarterlies and 1099s and year-end tax shit, etc that I had to have postmarked by Monday. I made it, but it was a major stressor that I did not need.

I am still lurking and playing nosy neighbor to read about all of you and how you are. Just not a lot of time or energy to participate much.

I hope you feel better, MV, sorry about the cold. I know for people like us with "issues" that "common" colds and other such shit are never common and always more difficult to overcome. I hope that this is not the case for you right now and that recovery comes quick!

Anjha, aren't they still playing the whole episode on ABC dot com? I used to watch the next day when I didn't have a dvr. Now I can't get sound on my home computer, so I'm totally grateful for dvr. But AFAIK, the web site had full eps the next day. Only SciFi would wait a week for BSG, which sucked.

Anjha said...

Holy crap - Twink! You are correct.

http://abc.go.com/watch/lost/93372/249983/la-x-part-1

There it is.

When we tried to watch season 5, last year, before it came out on DVD, ABC did not have it. They had some selected episodes, but we had to watch season 5 on wierd bootleg sites that had it subtitled in Arabic or Korean and we were only allowed to watch 78 minutes at a time or something.

So, I am surprised (but grateful) to see the whole episode on.

Bummer is that I have to go to an appointment and I want to watch it NOW! (Yes, I want an Ooompa Loompa too.)

Thanks Twink. I will watch what I missed when I get back.

and PS: if you are so inclined will you go here and sign this:

http://org2.democracyinaction.org/o/5757/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=1755

it is way important legislation and we need to fight to pass it.

Seven of Six said...

Anjha, Here's the IB Program.

Can't really say much about "Lost" until you all see it. It was OK, wanted more closure from the end of last year to this year but it seemed like they opened up more questions... like they always can.

gone said...

Yippee! I like more questions, myself. That's been my fun on the show.
