I don't think I ever watched JFK, and don't know what his other films are. This looks like a film from the Kitty Kelly book about the Bushes, which I read before the '04 election. Thing is, no one cares about Bush anymore, though I think it was digby or dday who wrote that one of the strongest weapons against McCain is the disapproval of Bush. By October, no one's gonna care about Bush's back story, I don't think.
I hope this thing tanks and destroys Stone's career. What a suck-ass.
JFK was a masterpiece. Absolutely fascinating. And Platoon was sheer genius. Wall Street, Salvador, this guy was one of the most important film makers of the 80's.
He lost me with Natural Born Killers and pretty much everything after that.
And now, who the fuck would make a movie about George W. Bush? Who the fuck cares? Unless we're gonna get into his draft dodging, his going AWOL from the Texas National Guard during Nam, the Yale Skull and Bones secret society, and the whole 9/11 thing...
Alas, no. No Kitty Kelly here. This is just a flattering character story of the worst president in history, without acknowledging him as the Worst President in History.
Unreal. From what I read, the movie depicts W's attack on Iraq as revenge for Saddam trying to assassinate dear old daddy.
Are you kidding? I loved Natural Born Killers! It's still relevant today, probably more so. You know Jane Hamsher from Firedoglake was a producer on that, she wrote a book on how tough it was to get it out there. And I loved Platoon, too. Never cared about Wall Street, though I think I saw Salvador, was that James Woods as the photographer?
Oliver Stone fan, here. Everything he's ever done is ballsy. What about Born On The Fourth of July? Without politics, he made World Trade Center a really intense, terrifying ride. Anyone know anything about the book he's using here?

Making low-grade films?
Living up to his potential?
Honestly, I never really thought much of his work.

Hack.
...this guy was one of the most important film makers of the 80's.
That prettymuch says it all for me.

Yep. James Woods and Jim Belushi.
I hated Natural Born Killers. I get what he was doing, and it worked, but I hated it.

The screenplay is by Stanley Weiser, who wrote Wall Street.
No mention of it being based on a book.
I think it lists a book right in the credits to your trailer, Numbnuts. Stone-Hater.
