On national security McCain wins. We saw how that might play out early in the campaign, when one good scare, one timely reminder of the chaos lurking in the world, probably saved McCain in New Hampshire, a state he had to win to save his candidacy -- this according to McCain's chief strategist, Charlie Black.
Charlie Black. Scary dude. Awfully flippant about fear mongering. But wait. It gets better.
The assassination of Benazir Bhutto in December was an "unfortunate event," says Black. "But his knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be Commander-in-Chief. And it helped us."
That was one lucky assassination. And here comes the money shot.
As would, Black concedes with startling candor after we raise the issue, another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. "Certainly it would be a big advantage to him," says Black.
Um, yeah. I don't really...

The guy was only saying what all of them are hoping and believing. That's why he was busted for it.
I think it would be good to have another 9/11. It brings people together and we get to see a lot of American flags and it gives the military something to do. Plus we would get another sappy all-star concert with Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young and whomever else.
I can't wait to see my first MCCAIN 08 t-shirt or bumper sticker or whatever. It may be because I'm in Illinois but I haven't had the pleasure yet. Can you imagine the kind of person who gets excited over John McCain? I don't want that person coming within a ten-foot radius of me.
Hey Coyote, I saw you slummin' at TLC yesterday. I get a stomach ache everytime I look at that thing. I would like to write a post but I have absolutely nothing to say. "I ain't got Anything to say to Anyone Anymore."
Yeah, I should have stayed away from TLC, people aren't gonna stop being stupid just because the primary's over. I was bored at work, what can I say. But there's no way another 9-11 will help McCain, tho it may give him a coronary, and the Dems would win by default. The economy's gotta go up at some point, so I can sell my house when I retire. Then it can do what it wants and I can move north!
